On December 10, David Afkham joins the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin for a concert featuring acclaimed violinist Christian Tetzlaff. Afkham will conduct Béla Bartók’s folk-inspired Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2, one of the composer’s most beloved and accessible pieces and one of the last works he wrote in Hungary before fleeing to the United States in 1940. He will also lead the orchestra in Franz Schmidt’s romantic and introspective Symphony No. 4 in C major, a piece Afkham stepped in to conduct earlier this year at Staatskapelle Dresden.
