David Afkham steps in with the Staatskapelle Dresden

David Afkham will replace Daniel Harding for the subscription concerts with the Staatskapelle Dresden on 7, 8 and 9 January at the Semperoper. He will lead the orchestra in a programme of Elgar’s Violin Concerto with Frank Peter Zimmermann as soloist.

He will also perform Franz Schmidt’s Symphony No. 4, last conducted in Dresden by the composer himself in 1937, his last appearance as a conductor.
