Conductor David Afkham will appear at three of the major US Summer Festivals in August.  Making his New York debut, he begins with the Mostly Mozart Festival at the Lincoln Centre for two performances of an all-Brahms programme:  the double concerto with soloists Vadim Repin and Truls Mork, and the 2nd Symphony.  From New York, David travels to Cleveland for  a return visit to the Blossom Festival, where he conducts Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.1 with soloist Martin Helmchen, and Schubert’s ‘Great’ C major Symphony. A few days break, and then it is on to the Hollywood Bowl, where David is reunited with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  David was a Dudamel Fellow for the 2010-11 season and is looking forward to working with the Orchestra again, this time it is Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.3 with Paul Lewis that is paired with Brahms Symphony no.2.
