August concerts in San Sebastian and Grafenegg

On August 22, David Afkham leads the Orquesta Nacional de España in San Sebastián’s Auditorio Kursaal in Maazel’s adaptation of Wagner’s Ring cycle, Der Ring ohne Worte. This eighty-minute work condenses some of the most memorable passages from the four operas that make up the great Wagnerian cycle. He then travels to Grafenegg on August 29, to conduct the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with pianist Alexandra Dovgan, and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4.
