Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall with the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real
On June 5, David Afkham appears at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall, leading the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real in an exciting gala concert. Entitled A Musical Fantasy from Spain, the concert also features two incredible Spanish artists: violinist María Dueñas and soprano Saioa Hernández, making her American debut.
The diverse and energetic program features Joaquín Turina’s Danzas fantásticas, Maurice Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso, Manuel de Falla’s “Danza No. 1” from La vida breve, and Ravel’s La valse. Dueñas joins the orchestra for Erich Korngold’s richly emotional Violin Concerto, and Saioa Hernández sings arias from Spanish zarzuelas and operas, including José Serrano’s Los claveles, Manuel Penella’s El gato montés, and Falla’s La vida breve.
