With the start of the 2015/16 season, David Afkham officially begins his tenure as the Principal Conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra and Chorus, and this week he opens their new season with three performances of Mahler’s dramatic and awe-inspiring ‘Resurrection’ Symphony. Directing the full forces of the orchestra and chorus, David will also be joined in Madrid by soprano Kate Royal and mezzo Christianne Stotijn. David continues his season with a second week in Madrid before heading to Stockholm and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra for performances of Szymanowksi’s Symphony no. 4 with Piotr Anderszewski as soloist.
